Earlier flash flooding evolved into record and catastrophic flooding as confirmed by emergency management personnel and USGS stream gages. More than 40 roads across the county were completely washed out, including Post Road just south of Interstate-20. A portion of Interstate-20 near Fairburn Road was closed for nearly 12-hours causing major traffic backups throughout the region. The main line of the Norfolk-Southern railroad near Villa Rica was also washed out. A seventh person in Douglas county fell victim to the raging flood waters. A 29-year old female perished when she was swept away in her vehicle by flood waters from the Dog River at 451 am EDT. Over 1200 residents in the county were left without power as several tress in water logged soils fell on adjacent power lines. This
