Event narrative (NOAA)

A Maricopa County Flood Control District Stream Gauge along Waterman Wash at Rainbow Valley Road south of Buckeye reported water levels rising above the alarm stage level of 3.1 feet, with water levels peaking at 4.9 feet (1133 cfs). A couple of water rescues were performed near the vicinity of the wash, one near Narramore Road and another near Tuthill Road. One of the flood incidents along the wash turned deadly as a man was found deceased after the pickup truck he was driving was washed away from the floodwaters. The pickup truck was found less than a mile downstream with the man not found, requiring a search and rescue operation to be activated.
