Event narrative (NOAA)

A transient was swept away in a drainage ditch under Interstate 35 along Little Walnut Creek. Widespread flash flooding was not observed, but locally heavy rainfall occured in the area and lead to stronger flow in the creek. The transient was rescued out of the water but was unconscious. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
