Event narrative (NOAA)

Two to four inches of rainfall near the Village of Sells, caused several of the washes in the area to flood. A vehicle entered into the Artesa wash, which at the time was running very high with water, and became stuck. Family members tried to get everyone out of the car and to safety but a one-year-old girl could not be rescued and was later found downstream.
