Event narrative (NOAA)
Around ten inches of rain fell in less than six hours, resulting in widespread flooding across northern Jefferson County, including the metropolitan area of Beaumont. Many people awoke to see flood waters in their homes, vehicles, and businesses. Nearly 900 homes were damaged, but only 10 were classified as destroyed. Roads and bridges also received some damage from the flood waters.
