Event narrative (NOAA)

Based on ASOS station KTEB, Teterboro Airport in Teterboro, New Jersey, heat index values in nearby locations reached extreme heat criteria values of at least 105 degrees F from approximately 930 AM through 1830 PM Local Standard Time. Media reported that approximately 150 attendees of two outdoor high school graduation ceremonies during the late morning into early afternoon for the Paterson, NJ school district were treated for heat exhaustion, with another 16 sent to the hospital for treatment of more serious levels of heat exhaustion.
