Event narrative (NOAA)

A swimmer was swimming in the Woodward Reservoir across the channel near Mountain View Point on May 25th, 2024 and was found dead after he went under the water and never came back up. Authorities found his body around 8pm. Water Temperature at Stanislaus River at Oakdale CA, approximately 5 miles from the Woodward Reservoir, was 53-57 degrees between the hours of 6 AM and 9 PM. Water Temperature at Stanislaus River at Orange Blossom Bridge, approximately 6 miles from the Woodward Reservoir, was 52-57 degrees between the hours of 6 AM and 9 PM. Max temperature for Modesto Airport, approximately 15 miles away, was 76 degrees on May 25th, 2024.
