Event narrative (NOAA)

An 83 year old woman was last seen leaving her home in Melrose on the afternoon of January 9. It appears as if her car got stuck in a snow bank near a farm and she began walking for help. She was found dead the next day. Relatives stated she had a history of dementia. The high temperature at Sauk Centre (the nearest ASOS or AWOS site) on the afternoon of the 9th was 18 degrees F. The low that night was 15 degrees, and the temperature rose to 27 degrees by 530 pm on the 10th. The coldest wind chill during that time was 1 degree F above zero.
