Event narrative (NOAA)
Avalanche occurred in the Sierra Madres within the Encampment River Wilderness where a snowmobiler was caught, buried, and killed. The avalanche was triggered by the snowmobiler attempting to climb a steep slope within forested terrain in the vicinity of Green Mountain and the South Fork of Miner Creek.
