Event narrative (NOAA)
A pair of backcountry skiers triggered an avalanche near the top of a large open bowl locally known as Marvin's West or Big Marvin (southeast of Vail, CO). But skiers were caught in the avalanche with one unable to escape the path resulting in a fatality.
